Matthew B. Moreland is a native of Louisiana, born in Hammond, Louisiana on November 6, 1971. He has eleven years of experience in State and Federal Court practice. Matthew graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in from the College of Business in International Trade and Finance in 1993 and received his law degree from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert School of Law in 1996. While in law school, Matthew was named chair of the LSU Law School Moot Court in 1995 and on the Louisiana Law Review, 1995-1996. After completing law school, Matthew served as clerk to the Honorable G. Thomas Porteous, Jr., District Judge for the Federal District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana in 1996-1997 and served as a Staff Attorney for the Federal District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana 1997-1998.

Matthew was admitted to practice before all Louisiana state courts, as well as, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Association of Justice (formerly Association of Trial Lawyers of America), and the Federal Bar Association. In the Federal Bar Association he served as both Chapter President in 2006-2007 and as a Director of the New Orleans Chapter (2000 to present) and on a National level he serves as a Director of the National Board of Directors, and as the Chair of Younger Lawyers Division (2005-2006 and now serves as a Director), Federal Bar Association Delegate to American Bar Association Younger Lawyers Assembly and served as the Director of Annual Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition from 1999-2004. Matthew also served on the New Orleans Bar Association Young Lawyers Board of Directors from 1998 to 2000.
