Welding Rods...

Exposure to the welding fumes may cause: cramps in arms or legs, increased
tiredness, insomnia, headaches, dizziness, slurred speech, mood changes, memory
loss, weakness in arms and legs, loss of balance, overall weakness, and many
other symptoms. These symptoms are often misdiagnosed as Parkinson's disease. A
verdict in the amount of $1,000,000 was awarded to a 57 year-old male who was
diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Reports estimate of 20,000 welders initially
screened in three Gulf Coast States- 2500 have Parkinson's or Parkinson's type
disease. This is a considerable increase of the normal 1-1.5% of US population
affected by Parkinson's. We are in the process of evaluating and obtaining
medical records in order to categorize our clients. Daniel Becnel, Jr. was
recently appointed as the chairman of the Welding Rod litigation committee to
ATLA.
